HISTORY

Bismarck Range (Lucknow) Gold Exploration N.L. was a New South Wales no-liability gold mining company formed to work gold-bearing ground at Lucknow, near Orange, during the revival of Australian gold mining in the early 1930s. The company actively developed the Lucknow field, producing ore, crushings, paying dividends and bonuses in 1934, and still operating profitably into the mid-1930s, which suggests it was one of the more successful small speculative mining ventures of that period rather than a mere promotion. It was an one of the interwar Australian junior gold companies that raised capital on the share market to exploit old and newly developed reefs in established mining districts such as Lucknow.
