HISTORY
Favelle Mort Limited was an Australian engineering and crane-manufacturing company created out of the later history of Mort’s Dock & Engineering Co. Delisted-company records show that Mort’s Dock was reconstructed and renamed Favelle Mort Limited in 1968, and by the 1960s the company had moved into crane manufacturing. Favelle’s later corporate history notes that it commenced manufacturing cranes in 1962 and achieved international recognition when its cranes were supplied for major projects including the World Trade Center in New York. The company remained listed until 1977, when it was taken over by Aquila Steel Company Limited. In historical terms, Favelle Mort is best described as an Australian heavy engineering and crane company, linking the old Mort’s Dock industrial tradition with the later globally known Favco crane business.
