HISTORY

Greyhound Racing Club Limited was an early New South Wales sporting company formed to run greyhound racing meetings, part of the rapid growth of the sport in Australia in the early 1930s. Newspaper reports from 1932 show the club conducting race meetings and qualifying trials at Shepherd’s Bush in Sydney, using the then-modern mechanical hare system, which places it in the pioneering phase of organised greyhound racing in NSW. Later records indicate the company did not survive long term, with a 1946 liquidation notice showing that Greyhound Racing Club Limited had ceased as an operating company by that stage. In historical terms, it is best described as an early greyhound racing and sporting entertainment company from the formative years of Australian greyhound racing.
