HISTORY
Hanimex Corporation Limited was a prominent Australian photographic and electronics company founded in 1947 by Jack Hannes, whose name inspired the brand: HANnes IMport EXport. It became best known as a major distributor of cameras, projectors and related photographic equipment, and from 1954 served as the sole distributor of Fujifilm products in Australia. During the 1950s to 1980s Hanimex expanded strongly, manufacturing projectors locally and later selling a wide range of consumer electronics, including cassette recorders and home video-game systems. The company eventually changed hands several times, being acquired by Gestetner in 1989, then passing to Ricoh in 1995, before Fujifilm bought it in 2004, after which the Hanimex name was discontinued.
