HISTORY
Metro Meat Ltd. was an Australian meat processing and livestock company based in Adelaide, and by the late 1970s it was operating at a scale that saw it listed in Commonwealth industry material alongside other major meat exporters and processors. In the following decade it became part of the wider Adelaide Steamship group, and by 1993 the Australian Financial Review was describing it as Adelaide Steamship’s livestock processing division while the group explored a sale. This 1979 certificate therefore comes from Metro Meat’s period as a substantial South Australian meat-industry company rather than a mining or finance vehicle.
