HISTORY
Nylex Corporation Limited was one of Australia’s best-known plastics manufacturers, with origins dating back to the late 1920s under earlier names before the business adopted the Nylex name in the 1960s. It became famous for producing a wide range of consumer and industrial plastic goods, including hoses, tableware and other household products, and its Melbourne presence was immortalised by the well-known Nylex clock. The company also expanded into related manufacturing fields, including cables, before later corporate changes, decline and restructuring saw the old listed company disappear, while the Nylex brand survived and is still used today on garden and watering products in Australia.
