HISTORY
Olympic Consolidated Industries Limited was an Australian industrial manufacturing group based in West Footscray, Victoria, and is closely associated with the Olympic brand founded by Sir Frank Beaurepaire. By the 1950s it had interests in tyres and rubber, and later sources show it was also active in cable manufacturing and other industrial products. In 1973 its cable operations were merged with those of Nylex to form Olex Cables Pty Ltd, and in 1980 Olympic itself merged with Dunlop Australia, with the combined business becoming Dunlop Olympic Limited. This 1963 certificate therefore comes from the company’s mature standalone period, when it was a substantial Australian industrial group rather than just a single-product tyre maker.
