HISTORY
Queensland Television Ltd was the original licensee of Brisbane’s QTQ-9, one of Queensland’s first commercial television stations, and began broadcasting in 1959 after being selected in 1958 as one of the successful applicants for Brisbane commercial TV licences. Over the following decades it became a key part of the Queensland media landscape as the operator of Channel 9 in Brisbane, and the licence remained under Queensland Television Ltd even as ownership structures changed within the broader Nine/Fairfax/Packer media world.
