HISTORY
Schweppes (Australia) Limited was the Australian arm of the long-established Schweppes soft-drinks business, whose roots trace back to the Schweppes brand founded in Geneva in 1783. In Australia, Schweppes began local manufacturing in Sydney in 1877 and grew into a major producer of mineral waters, mixers and soft drinks, becoming a prominent part of the country’s beverage industry. By the time of this 1966 certificate, Schweppes (Australia) Limited was an established listed drinks manufacturer, and only a few years later the wider Schweppes business merged with Cadbury in 1969 to form Cadbury Schweppes, linking the Australian company to a much larger international food-and-beverage group.
