HISTORY
Tooth & Co. Limited was one of Australia’s oldest and most important brewing companies. It began in Sydney in 1835 when John Tooth and Charles Newnham opened the Kent Brewery, was incorporated as a public company in 1888, and grew into a major New South Wales brewer with a large hotel and beverage business, acquiring other brewing interests over time and remaining a major force in the industry until it was taken over by Carlton & United Breweries in 1983. By the date of this certificate, 20 December 1977, Tooth & Co. was still operating as a substantial listed brewing company centered on the Kent Brewery at Broadway, Sydney, just a few years before that takeover.
